Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs)

onsemi Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) are highly integrated solid-state power switches integrating gate-drive circuitry based on IGBTs or MOSFETs in a single module. IPMs also include protection for power systems from issues such as short circuits, under voltages, and extreme temperatures. IPMs using 600V IGBTs are used in consumer and industrial applications for driving fans, pumps, and compressors. IPMs using 40V and 80V MOSFETs are increasingly used in automotive applications to drive electric fans and pumps. 

Advanced Motion SPM® 7 Modules

onsemi Advanced Motion SPM® 7 Modules provide a fully-featured and high-performance inverter output stage for AC Induction, BLDC, and PMSM motors. These modules integrate the optimized gate drive of the built-in MOSFETs (FRFET® technology) to minimize EMI and losses. The SPM 7 modules offer multiple on-module protection features that include under-voltage lockouts, thermal monitoring, fault reporting, and interlock function. The built-in one HVIC translates the incoming logic-level gate inputs to the high-voltage and high-current drive signals required to properly drive the internal MOSFETs. onsemi SPM 7 modules come with separate open-source MOSFET terminals for each phase that supports the widest variety of control algorithms.

Motion SPM® Modules

onsemi / Fairchild Motion SPM® Modules integrate drive and protection circuitry into a single package. These modules simplify and accelerate designs and optimize efficiency. The SPM modules are sometimes referred to as Intelligent Power Modules (IPM). A full line of highly integrated smart-power modules is available for a wide range of energy-savvy applications.
