DS134x Low-Current SPI / 3-Wire RTCs
Analog Devices DS134x low-current SPI / 3-wire real-time clocks (RTCs) are time-keeping devices compatible with any 32.768 kHz crystal. The ability of the DS134x to drive high ESR allows the use of the smallest available surface mount crystals, saving board space. Analog Devices IC DS134x RTCs also provide extremely low standby currents, permitting longer life from a backup supply source. The clock/calendar provides information on seconds, minutes, hours, days, dates, months, and years. The date at the end of the month is automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, including corrections for the leap year. The clock operates in a 24-hour or 12-hour format with an active-low AM/PM indicator. Address and data are transferred serially through an SPI or 3-wire interface. Two programmable time-of-day alarms are provided. Analog Devices IC DS134x RTCs are designed for embedded timestamping, handheld devices, medical equipment, and telematics applications.
