October 27, 2014 - Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now shipping the Helios H4 Solar Connectors from Amphenol Industrial. These connectors are IP68 rated and are specifically designed to meet requirements for solar power and energy harvesting applications, boasting a very high 52 Amp rating. Helios H4 connectors provide highly efficient power transfer with extremely low loss by the use of precision machined contacts utilizing Amphenol Industrial's exclusive RADSOK® Technology.
The Amphenol Industrial Helios H4 Solar Connectors, available from Mouser Electronics, provide higher current ratings and lower contact resistance than conventional solar connector solutions. Typical contact resistance is only 0.25mΩ, resulting in extremely low power losses. Connectors mate quickly and easily with an audible snap‑lock mating system that helps insure an error-free installation. Amphenol Industrial's unique RADSOK Technology insures a high contact, low resistance connection by placing a web of about two dozen tiny beams running from the front to back of the female contact. As the male contact is inserted, the web wipes the male contact clean while providing solid multiple connections, imparting high current flow with minimal voltage loss.
These H4 Solar Connectors provide very high reliability connections and are highly resistant to the harsh environments found in solar power installations, including resistance to extremes of heat, cold, immersion in water, ozone, salt, abrasion, UV, and sunlight.
Compatible with standard industry connectors, the Helios H4 Panel Connector is available in three different gauges including 14 AWG rated at 36A, 12 AWG rated at 45A, and 10 AWG rated at 52A. These rugged connectors meet or exceed the strict standards set for solar power connectors and are compliant with UL 1000V, TUV 1500V, and CSA. These connectors also meet the new standards including NEC 2008/2011. As per NEC 2008 these connectors mate with an audible click and require a special unlock tool to unmate the connectors.
